Application for 2022-2023 Honors & Rising Stars Programs


Welcome to the application for Levine Music's 2022-2023 Honors and Rising Stars programs!

Please be sure to read through the Honors Program and Rising Stars descriptions. Students must submit their materials via this application no later than 11:59pm on Sunday, May 22, 2022. 

Please review the following before completing the application:

  • If you are not currently enrolled in a theory class at Levine, take the Online Theory Placement Test.
  • Record your video audition and upload to YouTube. View Video Audition Requirements & Guidelines.
  • Write or record a personal statement responding to the following questions: (approximately 300-400 words written or 2-3 minutes spoken)
    • Tell us about yourself. How does music fit into your life now and in the future?
    • How has Levine played a role in your musical development?
    • What would you hope to get out of the Honors/Rising Stars programs? How do you see yourself contributing to the shared experience for all students in the program?
    • What do you think the importance of music is in society? How do you think you can contribute to making sure music is a valued part of your own community?
  • Ask your private lesson teacher to complete the Teacher Recommendation Form.
  • Tuition Assistance may be available to students who qualify. Students interested in Tuition Assistance must complete a new application each year. SECTION II: Applicant's Musical Education

SECTION III: Audition

Please review the guidelines for submitting your video audition. Each piece must be recorded in one take but you may pause the recording in between. Please be sure to announce each selection.

Honors Applicants: 

  1. One scale of your choosing (any articulation/rhythm/bowing pattern)
  2. Two contrasting pieces/movements (no longer than 15 minutes)
  3. One prepared excerpt from chamber repertoire (find your instrument's excerpt here)

Rising Stars Applicants: 

  1. One scale of your choosing (any articulation/rhythm/bowing pattern)
  2. Two contrasting pieces/movements (no longer than 15 minutes)

SECTION IV: Essay

Please write or record a personal statement responding to the following questions:

SECTION V: Teacher Recommendation Form

Every applicant must ask their primary private lesson teacher to submit an online Teacher Recommendation FormRecommendations may also be submitted from the student’s secondary private lesson teacher, if applicable, but this is not a requirement. The deadline for submission is Sunday, May 22, 2022.

SECTION VI: Financial Aid

Tuition Assistance may be available to students who qualify. Students interested in Tuition Assistance must complete a new application each year. Applications for current Levine students will open on May 23rd. To learn more and complete your application, please visit our Tuition Assistance page
